Harris receives BCCC Trustee Scholarship

A Washington man with plans of becoming medical laboratory technician has been chosen to receive the Beaufort County Community College Trustee Scholarship to attend BCCC this fall.

Casey Shawn Harris, 19, of Washington, was chosen for the scholarship. He is pursuing an associate in science degree at BCCC and hopes to continue his studies in BCCC’s Medical Laboratory Technology program. A graduate of Washington High School, Harris is the son of Raybon and Tammy Harris. He hopes to work in a hospital laboratory or medical office after graduating from BCCC.

“This scholarship has lightened my financial burden,” he said. “This allows me to focus more on learning.”

The BCCC Trustee Scholarship is awarded from an endowment established in 1996 by the BCCC Board of Trustees. It is awarded to a full-time student, enrolled in a curriculum program, who has demonstrated financial need and leadership ability and has a grade point average of 3.0 or above.
