“This scholarship has given me the
opportunity to fulfill the desires of my heart,” she said. “It is with sincere
gratitude that I thank the Carter family and the scholarship donors.”
The Tayloe Memorial Scholarship is
funded from an endowment begun in 2003 by Mrs. Sam Tim Carter, with encouragement
from her children Libba, Lou, Clay, and Mary. The endowment memorializes Mrs.
Carter’s grandfather, Dr. David Thomas Tayloe, and honors his numerous
descendants who have made significant contributions to the medical community of
Beaufort County. Scholarships generated by this endowment are awarded to BCCC
students enrolled in any medically related program.
