Two students have been awarded BLB scholarships to attend Beaufort County Community College this fall. Receiving the award are Mark J. Adams and Larry Latham Jr.
Adams, 43, of Washington, left, is seeking an associate’s degree in applied science from BCCC. A graduate of Brewer High School in Brewer, Maine, Adams hopes to work in a field that will help other people and his family after graduating from BCCC. He and his wife, Bonna, have one child.
“Thank you for rewarding me with this scholarship,” he said.
Latham, 31, also of Washington, right, is pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from BCCC. A graduate of Northside High School, Latham has two children. He plans to get a job in his field and continue his studies in electronics engineering after graduating from BCCC.
“I was very happy to hear that I had been awarded the BLB Scholarship,” he said. “It will not be wasted.”
The BLB Scholarship is funded by an endowment established by an anonymous donor in 2006 specifically to provide scholarships for students enrolled in an industrial arts program at BCCC. To be eligible, recipients must have at least a 2.0 grade point average and demonstrate need.
